Emil's Enamel

The Emil's Enamel series has been with us at Strömshaga for some seasons. With its timeless design and modern functions, they are always in style. Here 's a deeper presentation of the collection and some tips on how you can take care of the products to make them last longer.

Strömshaga's vision is to develop products with an old-fashioned charm that easily can be used in everyday life today. In the autumn of 2020, we presented Emil's Enamel, a series of household utensils in genuine enamel adapted to today's lifestyle. The series was first launched in the colours off- white and green and later we added a yellow colour.

The collection consists of bowls, mugs, jugs and pots that fit perfectly in the everyday kitchen. All pots work on all types of stoves, including induction and gas stoves. The oven dish with lid are perfect for gratins and pies.

But keep in mind that none of the enameled products work in the microwave.

The time for plastic is over and once again we want quality and durability in our kitchens. The products in the enamel series gives a wonderful feeling around cooking and serving.

In the production of enamelware sheet metal is cut and pressed to the wanted shape. Any handles are welded on and then the product is covered with a borosilicate-based coating and fired at high temperatures.

The enamel does not contain any harmful substances such as lead or nickel and is therefore well suited for cooking. Enamelled steel is completely odorless, and the enamel coating effectively resists stains, dirt and bacteria. Perfect in a kitchen where we want to maintain good hygiene!

Strömshaga's enamel products are manufactured in factories in Ukraine that have documented high quality and protect personnel and the environment. From an environmental and sustainability perspective, enamelled products are a very good choice. The products are processed in a way that gives them a long life and they can be recycled.

Enamel is sensitive to temperature differences and high temperatures. The bottom and sides of the pots and oven dishes store heat well and at the same time transfer heat to the food you cook. With that said, it is good to use the pots on low to medium heat. Heat the pot slowly with liquid, butter or oil in, start at a lower temperature and increase gradually. Remember to never heat an empty pot or leave a pan unattended. If the pan gets overheated, remove it from the stove and cool gradually. Never cool under cold running water to avoid damages on the enamel.

We recommend that you use wooden kitchen utensils when cooking and baking to avoid damage and scratch in the enamel.

Once you have cooked your meal, it's time to sit down and eat. Always allow pots and pans to cool before rinsing and washing. Wash in warm water with mild detergent, rinse and dry. Remember to use soft sponges or dish brushes to avoid damaging the surfaces. Never use steel wool or hard scrub brushes or sponges when washing your enamel products.

Our enamelled products are dishwasher safe, but to maintain the luster of the enamel, we recommend hand washing. Keep in mind that strong detergents can dull the glossy surface over time.

Our enameled products evoke memories and are wonderful to cook and serve food in. They fit in both cottages and apartments in the city, and why not bring mugs and bowls out on the picnic? The enamel is durable, but at the same time a little sensitive. If you follow our tips here, you have enamelware that will last a long, long time.
